Apple is preparing to launch a brand new iPad Pro lineup in 2021 with OLED displays, according to a report. The new lineup maybe after the next-generation iPad models that are rumored to include mini-LED displays.
OLED panels for iPad Pro 2021
OLED panels around the iPad Pro models are expected to result in higher brightness as well as lower chances of burn-in problems. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently predicted the iPad family would start moving to mini-LED displays in the first half of 2021. The iPad Pro models are likely to get the new treatment, even though it’s likely to slowly shift to other iPad models too.
Samsung and LG OLED panel for iPad Pro 2021
Samsung Display and LG Display are currently developing a brand new OLED panel that will be featured on the new iPad Pro models in the next half of 2021, The Elec reports. The present iPad Pro lineup utilizes LCD panels which Apple calls the “Liquid Retina” display.
Samsung Screen has reportedly revamped its production line to produce the new OLED screens for the iPad. “The business was incorporating a supply room to the origin material deposition chamber to deposit green, red, and blue in tandem. This will permit the company to deposit one coating of RGB, send the substrate back to the front of the manufacturing line, and pile an awarding layer beneath it,” the report reads.
The new OLED arrangement is predicted to enable two to three emitting layers to be piled to boost the longevity of the screen panel.
Much like Samsung Screen, LG Screen is also allegedly busy preparing its new OLED panels for its next-generation iPad Pro lineup. Before switching into OLED, Apple could be bringing mini-LED displays to the iPad family. Multiple reports have proposed previously that mini-LED iPad models could go into mass production in the coming months.
OLED variant of iPad Pro will be delayed
Though the iPad Pro lineup may change first to the mini-LED displays, Kuo in among its own notes to investors earlier this season said that the new technology would also be a part of their new iPad mini models.
The report from TheElec notes that Apple’s adoption of OLED for the iPad Pro lineup could be postponed — based on the”scale of adoption” of mini-LED displays. Additionally, it mentions the mini-LED iPad Pro could arrive as early as the first half of 2021.
