A few days ago, the Fightful Select Patreon portal claimed that Damian Priest was scheduled to ascend to the Main Roster on the latest episode of SmackDown. The plan was for him to help Kevin Owens in his rivalry against Roman Reigns and Jey Uso. However, that debut did not come to pass but finally, we saw his debut in the last episode of the blue brand. This change of plans that we mentioned at the beginning broke an agreement that the company has with NXT.
In a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio,
Dave Meltzer commented that there is a pact between the Main Roster and NXT regarding the rise of the talents of the gold and black brand. Dave said that, in theory, debuts on the main roster have to be planned several months in advance. The Damien Priest case did not meet that standard. This was Meltzer saying about it.
This was not something planned for long.
It used to be supposed to be ‘nobody moves from NXT to the main roster unless it’s planned months in advance’. Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla Bla. Actually, this was something that was planned like Thursday before Friday and then they decided not to.
The agreement is that no NXT Superstar
Can go up to RAW or SmackDown when they are involved in a rivalry. For this reason, the rise of Damian Priest was stopped. The priest was in a rivalry with Carrion Kross and WWE officials wanted to promote him, even with the rivalry going on.
