The Queen's Gambit Season 2

Anya Taylor-Joy revealed that there are no talks about a second season for The Queen’s Gambit.

After her win at the Golden Globes for best actress in a limited series and her Golden Globes win, Taylor-Joy was asked she would consider reprising her role of Beth Harmon, a competitive chess player.

Taylor-Joy replied, “Maybe,” when Taylor-Joy was asked about the prospect. We didn’t think about it. It was always a transition from sapling to tree. When you see her grow, it’s a great feeling to leave her in a good spot. We were truly surprised by the response of people asking, “Where’s season 2?”

Taylor-Joy acknowledged that although she confirmed that there was no follow-up to the award-winning Netflix series, she said that she would be open to a return if Scott Frank or Allan Scott asked.

Taylor-Joy said, “That being stated, I adore the whole team that made it. And I would jump at any chance to work again with them.”

Why The Queen’s Gambit Season 2 Makes Little Sense

It is unlikely that we will see any more of the series on Netflix. Taylor-Joy explained that The Queen’s Gambit, a story about Beth’s character’s journey, is not a standalone series. Therefore, Netflix has no reason to make it a franchise like Stranger Things and The Crown.

However, that doesn’t mean The Queen’s Gambit was not popular enough to be an ongoing series. The drama attracted 62 million viewers within its first month. Netflix’s viewing figures are subject to error, as they are based only on those who have viewed at least two minutes of an episode or documentary.

The Queen’s Gambit was still a huge hit, both in its cultural impact and viewers. It was ranked second on our top TV shows of 2020.
