The Queen’s Gambit Season 2

The Queen’s Gambit is a Netflix limited series that was based on Walter Tevis’ 1983 book. Within its first week, it rose quickly to the top of the streamer’s ten most-watched lists. The Queen’s Gambit, like many other adaptations, was based only on one novel. Its creators ended the story in seven episodes. There are no plans for Season 2. Anya Taylor Joy, series star, doesn’t seem so quick to abandon any plans for a second season.

No one anticipated that HBO’s Big Little Lies would get another season. The drama would be more dramatic than the book it was based on, so Season 2 would carry the drama. If The Queen’s Gambit were to move forward with Season 2, the same would be true. Although the series is billed as a short series, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t other stories to be told if the opportunity presents itself. Anya Taylor Joy believes that there are always a possibility for Season 2 of the series, even though Netflix hasn’t officially renewed it. Here’s what she told Town & Country:

It’s impossible to say no, and that’s what I have learned from working in this industry. I love the character and would return if asked. But, I think Beth leaves us in a positive place. It will be an adventure for her, and she will continue on this journey to find peace. It ends in a pleasant place, I believe.

The Queen’s Gambit Season 2

Hollywood seems to believe that “Never Say Never” is the Hollywood motto. I find it fitting because there’s nothing impossible when returning shows. The Queen’s Gambit may have ended, but viewers will still be interested in seeing Beth and all the other characters. Although the Netflix series ended in a positive place (it was also the end of the book), it is strange to start the story over again.

Harry Melling has thoughts on a possible Season 2 similar to hers about Anya Taylor Joy’s feelings about the show’s future. While he thinks that another season would have been great, he doesn’t know if it’s possible. Melling is still optimistic that “stranger” things have happened. Meanwhile, William Horberg, executive producers, said that he had “a lot fun” with the writers discussing a possible future for The Queen’s Gambit.

Horberg believes the limited series ended in an elegant way and that it was a great show. He wants the audience to decide what the fate of the characters will be after the credits roll. The Queen’s Gambit was cancelled for Season 2 at Netflix. It will be up to Netflix and the creators to decide what to do with Season 2.

The Queen’s Gambit season 1 is available for streaming on Netflix. You can find more information about watching on network TV and streaming by checking our 2020 fall premiere schedule.
