First-look images have been released for Titans season 3, Showing Vincent Kartheiser’s Scarecrow and Savannah Welch’s Barbara Gordon. Season 3 is going to be the DC series’ first to premiere on HBO Max, which might indicate a large uptick in focus and viewership over its period around the now-defunct DC Universe streaming platform. Titans stars Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft, Ryan Potter, Conor Leslie, Curran Walters, Joshua Orpin, Alan Ritchson, and Minka Kelly. Season 3 is set to premiere on HBO Max on August 12.
Based primarily on DC’s Teen Titans comics, Titans requires a darker, more adult-oriented angle on characters like Nightwing, Starfire, Beast Boy, and Raven. The series has received high praise from critics and fans over its first two seasons, chiefly because of the chemistry of its youthful ensemble cast. Titans Season 3 will feature Gotham City as a much more central place, with classic Batman characters such as Scarecrow, Barbara Gordon, and even Bruce Wayne himself playing major roles.
DC fans can get a glimpse at just two of the new additions to the cast. Kartheiser, most famous for playing manager Pete Campbell at Mad Men, will take on the lead villain role of Scarecrow in season 3, and it seems like he will do a successful job of embodying the dark and terrifying character. Another photo shows Dick Grayson reuniting with his former romantic and crime-fighting spouse Barbara Gordon, performed by Welch.
It should be exciting to observe the Titans characters coming into the area of Batman, especially given Nightwing’s complicated feelings toward his older mentor. Scarecrow appears to be a perfect villain for the show’s continuing themes of fears, insecurities, and past traumas. Kartheiser is a superb pick to play the part, and his first-look image certainly channels the terror-linked to the character. Hopefully, he will get to overlook a more comic-accurate costume at some stage during season 3. Or at least, it would be interesting to see him at the character’s timeless mask.
Barbara Gordon’s addition is also an intriguing one handed her history with Dick. Like him, she’ll probably have some complex feelings in their glory days with Batman, particularly given how these escapades ended for her. Barbara is the commissioner of the Gotham City Police Department at Titans season 3, following in her dad’s footsteps. The workplace revealed within her picture is certainly fitting for someone in such a powerful role, even though it would also be interesting to see her slide back into her older Oracle persona at some point in the series. Titans season 3 premieres on HBO maximal on August 12.
