The second season of Netflix’s hit series The Witcher is now complete. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, showrunner for The Witcher season 2, shared the news via a behind-the-scenes video posted to YouTube.
The video opens with Henry Cavill (Hollywood star) expressing gratitude to the crew for his work on season two.
“That’s it for season 2 of The Witcher. It’s hard for me to believe that it’s been more than a year since we started this season in Witcher style in a freezing forest in the middle of the night.” Hissrich stated in the video.
“Since then I’ve shot for 158 consecutive days with at least one unit. Sometimes we have two units. All the while being covered in face shields, masks, goggles, and hand sanitizer,” she added.

The showrunner said that the new season had been shot in 15 locations and featured 89 cast members as well as over 1,200 crew members. The Witcher, based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s series of novels, tells the story about the intertwined destinies of three individuals in The Continent. Here, humans, elves witchers, gnomes and monsters fight to survive and thrive. Good and bad are difficult to distinguish.
Cavill returns to the role of Yennefer with Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan plays Ciri and Joey Batey is Jaskier.
“We cannot wait for you to see what Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, Jaskier, as well as all your favourites, have been up to since the Battle of Sodden Hill.
Hissrich stated, “There are lots of new characters, storylines, and of course, monsters to explore as we dive into the Blood of Elves, and beyond.”
Adjoa Andoh, Kim Bodnias, Cassie Clare Liz Carr, Graham McTavish Graham McTavish Simon Callow, Simon Doyle, Simon Callow, and Chris Fulton are all-new cast members.
The coronavirus pandemic caused filming to stop soon after the start of season 2.
Production resumed in August 2020. However, production was halted once again in November due to multiple positive CoVID-19 cases.
