The Letter for the King is a fantasy and adventure Netflix Orginal which released its season one recently in March 2020. The series is loosely based on the 1962 classic Dutch novel De brief Voor de Koning. Netflix still has not announced its renewal. The makers of the show are hoping that viewers increase during this pandemic. The more the viewers, the more the chances of renewal. For now, the status of a possible season 2 is unknown.

Cast 

The main cast are Amir Wilson (His Dark Materials) as Tiuri, Ruby Ashbourne Series as Lavinia, Thaddea Grahan as Iona, Isla Bouakkaz as Arman, Jonah Lees as Jussipo, Jack Barton as Foldo, Nathanael Saleh as Pink, Gijis Blom as Prince Viridian, Emilie Cocquerel as Queen Alianor and Peter Ferdinando as Jaro. At the end of Season One, we saw Lavinia defeating Prince Viridian. However, we might see him come back for revenge in Season 2.

Plot 

The story is about Tiuri, an aspiring knight, who is sent on a mission to deliver a secret letter to King Favian. The message is about Prince Viridian’s treachery to King Favian. At the end of season one, Tiuri delivers the letter to King Favian. Prince Viridian transforms into a shadow creature but Lavinia still manages to defeat him. This makes her the prophesied hero. Finally, Tiuri and his team return to Dagonaut and are rewarded the title ‘knight’. At the end of the ceremony, a flock of birds was flying overhead. Something seemed suspicious about it to Tiuri. The flock then took the shape of Prince Viridian’s face. This was a clear sign that Prince Viridian will come back to exact venegeance.

Release Date 

The series has a ‘not bad’ reception for viewers. It received a 6.69/10 as the average rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The makers are hoping for an increase in viewers during this period. Netflix still needs more convincing for a season 2.
