Will, we do not have more anthology series?

The news is not good for Netflix fans, and now it looks like it’s left for The Haunting of Bly Manor.

The famous anthology, which started in The Haunting of Hill House, and which continued with a news story in The Haunting of Hill House, will not return. And the news was confirmed by an extremely reliable source: the author and creator Mike Flanagan himself.

Flanagan’s speech took place on his Twitter account and certainly discouraged fans. That’s because, a third part was already highly coveted by the fans, who were enamored with the newest chapter, ” The Curse of Bly Mansion “.

In other words, what Flanagan said is that, for 2021, there is no plan to produce a new season. And yet, beyond 2021. He wants to focus on new projects, which are not necessarily on Netflix.

What would happen?

Still, at another point, Flanagan ended up giving EW what approach he would take in the possible third season. Check it out below.

“A ghost is an impact of the past on the present in all ghost stories. That way, it’s all it is. It doesn’t matter how you see it. A ghost, therefore, is simply an element of the past that refuses to live in the past. And instead, it just invades the present to alter the present. This changes the trajectory of the person who is experiencing that little piece of the past … This connection between memory and ghosts as well as between ghosts and the past, which is the life force of the series. ”

It is contradictory, however, that Flanagan said he was not planning a new season when, weeks before, he commented on the direction of the season.

Had Netflix silently canceled the anthology? This would not be the first Netflix cancellation that would deflect criticism from the public. In 2020, the streaming platform carried out a series of controversial cancellations, alleging “budget cuts” and, also, the unfeasible situation to film due to the pandemic.

Among the most talked-about titles is The Society, I Am Not Okay With This, and even the GLOW series – which was already renewed. So, did The Haunting of Hill House become another victim of Netflix?

The new season was successful

Created by Mike Flanagan, The Haunting of Hill House (The Haunting of Bly Manor) is a result of the 2018 miniseries, The Curse of the Residence Hill.

Although the plots of the two series are not directly connected, both are about “ haunted houses and haunted people ” and have thematic and aesthetic connections – from the central setting of an old house with a dark history to the ghosts cleverly hidden in the background of some scenes.

Based on The Turn of the Screw and other stories by Henry James, the ending to The Curse of Bly Mansion – much like the ending to Hill House – is bittersweet and a little tearful.

Flanagan also explained that he never intended to give direct sequences to these plots. Therefore, the seasons would always have a beginning, middle, and end.
