Team India has lost another bowler due to injury, it is none other than Umesh Yadav. He was injured during the Melbourne Test, now his name is included in India’s long injury list on the tour and the depth of his bowling attack is being tested. It remains to be seen who takes his place in the team with the news of T Natarajan making his debut in the first round.
Umesh Yadav played both Test matches on the tour and took four wickets while putting 39.4 overs. He took three wickets in the Pink Ball Test which India lost but was a bit disappointing in Melbourne when the team needed him to bowl a new ball, but he did not get a single wicket in the first innings. The fast bowler then dismissed Joe Burns early in the second innings.
When he was bowling well, Umesh had to be off the field after a hamstring injury. A well-known journalist Boria Mazumdar confirmed the news of the fast bowler being dropped from the remaining part of the Test series. Umesh Yadav is set to return to India and the team management will be hoping to be fit for the upcoming England series.
Team India thanked some of the limited-overs players as net bowlers for the Test series and there is every possibility that Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini, and T Natarajan will play the next match. Saini is part of the team, while Thakur and Natarajan are net bowlers with the team, although they are expected to get their Test Cap.
Natarajan was also not in the original team in the limited-overs of the tour. But Varun Chakraborty’s injury gave him a chance and he impressed everyone in four matches (1 ODI and 3 T20I). Recently it was also told that Natarajan harassed Ajinkya Rahane with a red ball. The third Test match between Australia and India is to be played from 7 January.
