Netflix’s post-apocalyptic fable Sweet Tooth ends its first season on a major cliffhanger, but will the story continue? Here’s what we know up to now about Sweet Tooth season 2’s renewal status, story information, and possible release date.

Sweet Tooth stars Christian Convery as Gus, one of the very first generation of kids who were strangely born as”hybrids” – part human, part animal. As the hybrids began to be born, the preceding model of humankind was killed off en masse from the coming of a deadly and highly contagious virus. A decade after, hybrid children are hunted down and killed or captured for experimentation, but Gus chooses to brave the entire world out of his woodland home to seek out his mother, with the help of wanderer Tommy Jepperd (Nonso Anozie).

Sweet Tooth needed a long road to the screen after its creation was interrupted by a real-life pandemic. As stated by the very first wave of testimonials heralding its arrival on Netflix, it was worth the wait but does that mean viewers can look forward to Sweet Tooth season 2?

Release Date

Sweet Tooth season 1 wrapped filming January 2021 and released on Netflix five months afterward, in June 2021. Sweet Tooth season 2 would ideally need to begin filming whenever possible in order to pick up where the cliffhanger left off, since child actors era more quickly and noticeably than adults. If the series gets a fast renewal and gets the cameras rolling again towards the end of 2021, Sweet Tooth season 2 could release in summer 2022.

Story Details

Things don’t look great for Gus and the other hybrid children at the end of Sweet Tooth season 1. Captured by General Abbott and the Last Guys Army, they are held prisoner in the uterus and waiting to be vivisected in Dr. Singh’s hunt for a cure. Nevertheless, the season ends on a hopeful note as Gus ultimately finds the family he has been searching for. Dr. Singh is already struggling with the ethics of murdering hybrid children in order to locate a means to help Rani, so Sweet Tooth season 2 would see Gus compelling the doctor to turn against Abbott and assist the kids to escape. There’s also the promise of saving from Aimee, who’s teamed up with Tommy and announced that a firm intention to find both of their children.

The mystery of the hybrid children’s origins along with the seeds of this illness have been partly uncovered, but there’s still a lot more to learn. The ending of Sweet Tooth season 1 provides a promise of more replies with the show that Birdie is in Alaska, where the microbes used to create Gus and the virus were initially found. With Bear currently connected to Birdie, Gus’s mum could eventually get the opportunity to tell him the real facts about where he comes from.
