Jesse Armstrong is the creator of HBO’s satirical comedy-drama Succession. Season 3 will be his return. After several delays caused by the pandemic, filming has begun for the third season. Filming began in April 2020, just in time to film the show for its late-summer premiere.
HBO Max’s chief content officer, that the number of COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles is increasing, so it’s safer to move filming locations. Filming on the West Coast is safer that filming on East Coast.
Casey Bloys stated, “A lot will depend on how vaccine rolls out, and how important Covid is. Although it’s still a very real issue at the moment, we hope that it will become easier to manage. It’s difficult to predict the future.
He said that he also thought Los Angeles should be the location for Succession. Los Angeles was considered safer than New York at the time. Los Angeles then looked terrible and New York seemed better.
The plot of the new season is still being worked out, but we can expect dramatic episodes.
Succession is about the Roy family, the owners of media conglomerate Waystar RoyCo. Brian Cox portrays Logan Roy’s children, who fight for control of the company.
We were left with many cliffhangers in Succession Season 2. We witnessed Kendall (Jeremy Strong), declaring war on his father Logan Roy. Logan Roy, his rebellious son is attacked and he begins Succession Season 3 in an unfavorable position.
The Scotsman spoke with Brian Cox, played by Logan Roy, about Succession Season 3. The actor, 74 years old, stated that “We’re just in the hold.” Because the show is so popular, we will resume when it is safe.
He said, “Season 3 is complete and ready to go. But we need to gather our diverse people from all over the world and find locations. It’s not clear if we will acknowledge Covid-19 in the next series. We will continue to do so, despite all the ifs and abers.
Adrien Brody, an Academy Award winner, has joined the Succession season 3 cast. Alexander Skarsgard, the actor of “Big Little Lies”, joined the cast a few days earlier.
HBO revealed some names of the new cast members for Succession Season 3 earlier. Sanaa Lathan will portray Lisa Arthur, a prominent and well-connected New York lawyer. South Korean singer Jihae Kim will portray Berry Schneider as a prominent public relations consultant, while Linda Emond will play Michelle-Anne Vanderhoven as a senior White House adviser.
Jesse Armstrong was the creator of the series and also served as its director. Along with Adam McKay and Frank Rich, Kevin Messick and Will Ferrell, Jane Tranter as well as Tony Roche, Jon Brown and Scott Ferguson, he will be an executive producer.
