Ever since it premiered on Netflix in 2019, Sex Education has delighted fans with its complex characters, fantastic writing, and also the capability to tell intricate stories about sex with humor and respect. Season 2 premiered in its entirety in Jan. 2020, and the season finale left off fans with a massive cliffhanger. Now, everyone’s wondering about Sex Education season 3.
Season 2 comprised storylines which were unexpected and touching, and I can’t wait to see what season 3 of Sex Education has in store.
Here is what we know so far about Sex Education season 3.
Sex Education Season 3 Release Date
While we do not know the official release date for Sex Education season 3 yet, we have a fantastic idea when the new season will be inserted to Netflix.
Netflix recently shared a letter with shareholders that announced some Netflix shows coming in the second half of 2021. Sex Education season 3 is now lined up to get the second half of the 2021 release date.
We’re anticipating this series may return for season 3 as early as August or September and arrive as late as October 2021.
Production on Sex Education season 3 wrapped in the spring of 2021.
Sex Education Season 3 Synopsis
Season 2 of Sex Education proved to be a crazy ride. Otis (Asa Butterfield) and Maeve’s (Emma Mackey) sex practice operation was put in jeopardy when Moordale hired Jean (Gillian Anderson) to assist the student population after a chlamydia outbreak.
Otis attempted to navigate his new relationship with Ola (Patricia Allison) while coming to terms with the scope of his feelings for Maeve.
The season culminated with Otis leaving Maeve a voicemail confessing his love, just for Maeve’s neighbor Isaac (George Robinson) to delete the message. Lily (Tanya Reynolds) and Ola started dating, and thus did Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) and Adam (Connor Swindells). Jean also discovered she was pregnant.
Season 3 will probably handle the fallout of all these events, and I can’t wait to see how it plays out!
Sex Education Season 3 Cast
Sex Education celebrities Asa Butterfield as Otis Milburn, an awkward teenager with an astounding number of sexual health information. Ncuti Gatwa plays with Eric Effiong, Otis’ hilarious best buddy. Emma Mackey portrays Maeve Wiley, a social outcast and Otis’ partner in crime. Gillian Anderson portrays Dr. Jean F. Milburn, Otis’ mother, and a sex therapist.
The series also features the talents of Connor Swindells, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Aimee Lou Wood, Chinenye Ezeudu, Patricia Allison, Tanya Reynolds, and Mikael Persbrandt.
Netflix declared there are 3 new celebrities joining the cast in season 3, including Jason Isaacs, Jemima Kirke and Dua Saleh.
Isaacs is playing Peter Groff, the older brother of the Headmaster at Moordale. I guess that also makes him Adam’s uncle.
Kirke will perform Hope, the new Headmistress at MoorDale, also Saleh plays Cal, a student that gets to it with Hope, the new Headmistress.

Sex Education Season 3 Trailer
There are not exactly a trailer for season 3, per se. Below you’ll see a funny video featuring Alistair Petrie, who plays Headmaster Groff in Sex Education. The video serves as a season 3 statement, although it doesn’t include any new footage from next season.
It does, however, feature several other works of art. It looks like the cast and crew of Sex Education just wish to remind fans that the show will return.
