Riverdale’s fifth-season second half hasn’t yet started airing, but we know the hit drama for teens will return before 2021’s end.
The CW is a US network that has announced the release of five special episodes for the next season. The rest will follow at a later time.
According to Mark Pedowitz, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CW, the five episodes will air during November.
Pedowitz stated, “We will have concluded production [on Season Five] at the beginning of June, beginning in early July, so there’ll be enough of an hiatus so they can come back at some stage in early September fully rested,”
He said that it was impossible to record a complete season in time for the 2021 air date. This is why the new approach.
He explained that all of this was part of a strategy to return the channel to its pre-pandemic schedule.
He stated that while the country and industry are opening slowly, it is likely that we will have to wait until Fall 2022 before we can get back on a regular schedule.
The US episodes will air on Tuesday nights, instead of their usual Wednesday slot. However, there aren’t any word on when the episodes will be available on Netflix UK.
The CW has announced that the remainder of the fifth season will air from Wednesday 11th of August. It will continue where it left off in the middle of the hiatus.
Season five started on the 20th of January. It kicked off with a prom sequence that was initially planned for season four.
