Rick and Morty Season 5 could be going on hiatus soon if a recent report checks out! Adult Swim has been making its way through the fifth season of the fan-favorite animated series, and soon it will be rounding out its eighth episode with its next new release. It looks like the wait to see the last two episodes of the series is going to be longer than it was initially thought. There will likely be a break between Episodes 9 and 8, which could lead not only to a longer wait but also two or more weeks.
It was revealed previously that Rick & Morty Season 5 would be going on a break next Sunday, August 15th. The show will be dominated in part by Tuca & Bertie’s Season 2 final and a marathon. But, a new schedule listing spotted @swimpedia on Twitter also shows that there will be no new episode of Rick & Morty on Sunday, August 22nd. Between Episodes 8-9 of Season 5, there will be at most two weeks of waiting.
Although it has yet to be confirmed if Rick or Morty will miss out on two Sundays in a row, and no reason has been given, fans hope this means that there will eventually be a two-part season finale. Given the several-month break between the first and last five episodes of Season 4, this hiatus doesn’t seem too bad by comparison.
This season, Rick and Morty are confirmed for Seasons 6 and 7. Season 7 is wrapping up its writing portion. There are many more episodes and new shorts from more creators. While the wait might be painful, fans can rest assured knowing there will be plenty of new episodes over the years.
Also, it’s not clear if the hiatus would end after only two weeks. We’ll know soon enough, as Rick and Morty will air their next episode on Adult Swim on Sunday, August 8th, 11:00 PM EST.
