The Starz app’s breakout episode set a record. P-Valley became the most viewed series on Starz. After just three episodes, the premium cable network quickly renewed PValley in summer 2020. So, we are guaranteed a second season.
Based on a play written by Katori, the showrunner and Pulitzer Prize Winner, P–Valley takes visitors to the fictional Mississippi Delta city of Chucalissa. There we can see all of the exciting drama surrounding the Pynk, a strip club owned by Uncle Clifford. He is a brazen, smart, and struggling business owner. Each episode in the sexy series was filmed by a woman. Hall’s personal experiences are the basis of the stories.
“I grew up going to strip club, so it was just part Southern Black culture. It was something we didn’t necessarily view in a shameful light,” she explained to The Playlist. This world can be misunderstood. These women are misrepresented and they aren’t respected. It was something I wanted to do because I knew they were artists. This is nothing to be ashamed of.

What Katori Hall Thoughts on the Expected Release Of “P-Valley”, Season 2
P-Valley might have been released earlier under normal circumstances. The pandemic affected the schedule, and so the work on P-Valley was delayed. While the work on the second series will soon begin, there are many more things that need to be done.
IndieWire journalist Hall was in close contact and asked for a status update regarding Season 2 of P-Valley. Katori Hall confirmed that the show would return within a few years. But it may take at most 2 years. Hall laughed.
She agreed. “You know, we have to wait until the things are marinated. We are currently finishing up the write-up. Today marks the end of our time in the writing studio. In other words, we are finishing up our scripts. Production will be shortly around the corner.”
Who Is The P-valley Season 2 Cast
The cast of “P-Valley”, which aired the first season, is likely to return for the second. You’ll likely see Nicco Ann return to his part-club owner Uncle Clifford. Brandee Evans will play veteran stripper Mercedes. Erica Johnson plays the newly created part-owner of The Pynk Hailey/Autumn Night. Season 2 will see Shannon Thornton returning as Miss Mississippi Keyshawn, Skyler Joy playing Gidget, J. Alphonse Nicholson as Lil’ Morda. Parker Sawyers as Andre, Harriett D.Foy, and Patricia as Mercedes’ mom are also likely.
Some dancers may join the cast in Season 2, based on the casting call. But it’s too soon to know who or what.
