The show was never meant to continue for more seasons, as fans are afraid Netflix will cancel it. Liz Feldman stated that she had always imagined it would not be a long-running series in an interview.
Liz Feldman will continue to work with Netflix after Dead To Me is over. She signed an overall deal, which means that any new projects created by the creator will be available to Netflix. However, no other projects are yet to be announced.

The writing phase for the third season of the series was still ongoing in September 2020.
