Calparsoro has not only recruited famous actors for his film, he has also counted on, as the director describes, “street people” and rappers .
This is the case of Ayax and Dollar Selmouni . The first is a rapper from Granada who began to write verses at age 11 and who in the film gets into the skin of Motos . This character is a kamikaze and convict specialized in moon landings. Selmouni, for his part, plays Gitano , one of the best friends of the protagonist Ángel (Herrán). The interpreter, of Algerian origin, has earned a place in the world of hip-hop for his amazing voice.
Behind these signings there is a compelling reason. As Calparsoro himself explains in the production notes of Hasta el cielo : “We have had a cast in which renowned actors have been combined with highly talented emerging stars and, in addition, we have done a laborious ‘casting’ to meet people from the street and we have rappers: very authentic people who bring a lot of freshness and truth to the film ”.
