Mixed-ish, the prequel to Black-ish is in the talks for a comeback. The show is the third addition to the Black-ish franchise after Grown-ish. The show received a positive response from its viewers. Therefore a season two was inevitable.
The show is slightly inspired by Dr. Rania Barris, the wife of co-creator Kenya Barris. The show’s protagonist, Rainbow Johnson is a 12-year-old preteen who gives a glimpse into her life. The series goes back in time, the youth of Rainbow Johnson, precisely the 1980s. It gives an insight into growing up in a mixed race family. When her family chooses to pack up and move from a hippie community to the suburbs, they face a change in the environment. Alicia, the mother of Rainbow, works at a firm along with her father-in-law. While Paul, her father, embraces his duty as a stay at home father. They can now clearly see the way everyone sees them differently in the suburbs as compared to their earlier home. Bow faces a racial identity crisis when she is asked for her racial identity in a form- black or white.
Similarly, Season 2 will also show racial problems that a mixed-race family goes through with a touch of comedy. Whether they choose to stay the way they are or will they have to change for society to accept them. Watch Season two to get the answer.
People have liked what the show has to offer so far. Touching sensitive subjects in a comical yet diplomatic way is the highlight of the show. There is no reason at all to not continue for another season. Season one ended on May 5, 2020. On 21 May 2020, ABC revealed the renewal of the show. Mixed -Ish Season 2 will premiere on 26th January 2021 on ABC Network.
