Indian Premier League has got his title sponsors for the tournament, Dream11 will be the title sponsor for IPL 2020. It has been named the title sponsors for this year after they outbid other companies. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Chinese smartphone company Vivo had suspended their contract for IPL 2020 as a title sponsor.

Fantasy cricket league platform Dream11 has won the battle of being the title sponsor for IPL this year. A number of companies were in the race but it outbid all of them like Unacademy, Byju’s, Tata Sons, and Patanjali. For the sponsorship rights, Dream11 bids RS 222 crore said by the chairman of IPL, Brijesh Patel.

Rs 210 crore was the bid placed by Unacademy while Tata Sons bids for Rs 180 crore and lastly Byju’s had bid Rs 125 crore.

BCCI and Vivo postponed their sponsorship for one year, it happened due to the prevailing India-China border stand-off. By the deal with Vivo, BCCI was receiving a total of Rs 440 crore per year.

BCCI President comments on sponsorship:

President of BCCI Sourav Ganguly has said that after the postponed of the sponsorship contract with Vivo, that it was not because of financial crisis. Saurav Ganguly also added that “This is similar to a challenge for us and we will tackle it firmly”.

Sourav Ganguly also added: “BCCI is a strong foundation – the game, the players, the administrators in the past have made this game so strong that BCCI is able to handle all these blips”. You keep all the options open, for us, it is like Plan A and Plan B.

Coronavirus outrage:

The IPL 2020 was originally scheduled from March 29 this year but was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. The event will now get a start on September 19. This year IPL will be played in UAE for the very first time. Due to COVID-19, BCCI and IPL organizers found UAE as the safest place. Therefore, it is all set to host IPL 2020 in UAE from 19th September.
