Andrew Tate is a British-American internet personality which most people came to know when he appeared on Big Brother in 2016.
In the last few months, his popularity ballooned on social media platforms, particularly TikTok and YouTube, and at one point, he was being searched on Google more than Donald Trump.
Known for his flamboyant lifestyle, we will take a look at how he made his money.
Who is Andrew Tate?
Andrew Tate III (nick-named “Cobra Tate”) is a former professional kickboxer who went viral and rebranded himself as a “success coach.” He has two siblings, his brother Tristan and sister Eileen Tate.
Andrew Tate appeared on Big Brother in 2016 before he gained a lot of attention on the internet for his polarizing comments on women and how men interact with women. He has also been rallying against how modern society perceives masculinity.
His views on these issues drew widespread criticism online, and in August 2022, he was banned from Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. He was accused of violating the rules of engagement on those sites.
Twitter permanently suspended his account in 2017 after he said that women should “bear some responsibility” for being sexually assaulted. His account was reinstated late last year when Elon Musk took over Twitter. Andrew Tate has always defended himself, saying that he’s simply playing an “online character.”

It is quite hard to tell how much Andrew Tate’s net worth is. Earlier in 2022, Tate claimed to be worth about $355m, although NoBSIMReviews state it could be as high as $1 billion. This is based on a claim Tate made in an interview with Piers Morgan in December 2022.
Both are unsubstantiated figures since Tate is unlikely to reveal actual wealth sources and figures. Some sources allege that he has a net worth in the region of $50m, but we believe this to be on the low side.

His first successful venture was the webcam business. Once that had taken off and his online persona grown, he launched other ventures like Hustler’s University and, more recently, The Real World.
He is a commentator for Real Xtreme Fighting in Romania.
He also runs a premium service called the War Room. He describes it as a “global network in which exemplars of individualism work to free the modern man from socially induced incarceration.” It is a private members club that costs $4,497 to become a member.
Andrew Tate also says that he made money investing in cryptocurrency and opened a casino business with his brother Tristan.
Hustler’s University
Andrew launched Hustler’s University in 2021. It was an online program to help people make money online through a selection of wealth-creation methods. The goal was to teach people to make passive income online.
Andrew described Hustlers University as “a community where me and dozens of War Room soldiers will teach YOU exactly how to make money.”
HU utilized “professors” to teach the respective subjects. Andrew claimed to have vetted each of these “experts.”
Some of the courses they taught include stock analysis, options plays, crypto analysis, DeFi, E-commerce, Copywriting, Freelancing, Flipping, Financial planning, and Business management.
The lessons were offered through a private Discord server. To access the site, it costs $49.99 per month.
The Real World
After Tate shut down the Hustler’s University affiliate program, he announced he would be launching a new program called The Real World. He describes it as “a completely Matrix-independent platform where we teach you how to make money in the digital age.”
The cost to the subscriber is $49.99 per month. He says that it is meant to educate you in areas like copywriting, freelancing, e-commerce, Amazon FBA, and artificial intelligence.
According to Tate, you can work hard and earn a six-figure income running an online business. Then they will teach you how to invest that money to multiply your profits.

Webcam Business
Andrew Tate started his webcam business while he was still living in the UK. He ran the business together with his brother, Tristan Tate.
He told the Fresh&Fit podcast that he started his webcam sex business in his apartment.
To recruit his first webcam models, he texted his five girlfriends at the time and presented to them the proposal that he wanted them to work for him. “They were all from different places in the world,” he said, and “I had them all fly in, sat them all down together.” Tate told them, “I’m going to look after you, and we’re going to get rich.'”
The five girlfriends did not know about each other, so when he asked them to come live and work with him in Bedfordshire, England, three of them rejected the proposal leaving him with his first two webcam models.
According to an investigation by Romanian police, the Tate brothers brought in women “by misrepresenting their intention to enter into a marriage/cohabitation relationship and the existence of genuine feelings of love (the loverboy method).”
Andrew said that at one point, he had over 75 girls working for him, and at the time, he was making approximately $600,000 per month.
The working conditions for these models were not always the best (and this explains why the police got involved). In a video he released on his since-deleted YouTube channel, Tate bragged that he created restrictions and rules for the women who worked for him.
“I’m all over the place, so I end up with all these chicks just stuck in a house sitting there, bored, completely in love with me, and of course, they don’t go out. They’re not allowed out… You stay in the house. You don’t go anywhere. No restaurants, no clubs, nothing.”
To get more girls working for him, he started flying them in from other countries to join his webcam operations, which at the time had grown beyond what he had started at his apartment. He said women came to him from countries like Slovakia and France.
When he was running the webcam business, he openly admitted that he preferred to have the women working for him to be his girlfriends with an emotional attachment to him. He said, “My job was to get women to fall in love with me. Literally, that was my job,” he continued “My job was to meet a girl, go on a few dates, sleep with her, test if she’s quality, get her to fall in love with me to where she’d do anything I say, and then get her on webcam so we could become rich together.”
Andrew and Tristan Tate have since admitted in an interview that the webcam business was a “total scam” and that the men who bought into it and paid money to them should have known better.

Moving to Romania
Andrew Tate moved to Romania because he felt that the country was less likely to pursue rape claims. On a video that was on YouTube but has since been removed, he said, “I’m not a rapist, but I like the idea of just being able to do what I want.”
Some believe that when Andrew moved from the U.K. to Romania to conduct his business, he was evading past accusations of rape and physical abuse from multiple women.
Andrew Tate Controversy
Andrew Tate has been a polarizing figure throughout his public life. He is often accused of making misogynistic comments, and last year, this led to a campaign to get him off of social media. Parents and teachers were concerned that he was having a negative influence on young people, particularly young men.
Never shying away from controversy, Tate once said on a podcast that he hit a woman and broke her jaw during a bar fight and was taken to court after he was charged with causing “bodily harm.” However, he survived that and was found innocent.
Andrew Tate has also come under fire for the sexually explicit webcam business that he himself has called a “total scam.” He boasted on his website that to recruit webcam models. He lured women in by getting them to fall in love with him. The webcam sex business is at the center of the Romanian investigations that landed him in jail.
Andrew Tate arrested in the UK over a webcam incident
In 2015, while Andrew Tate was running his webcam in the UK, he once withheld a month’s wages from his top-earning model to punish her for getting drunk and vomiting in his bed. She went to the police and reported him for assaulting her after he refused to pay her.
He was subsequently arrested on “suspicion of assault” charges, but the case was dropped. The police raided his house after that for his phones and laptops and leveled new charges against him, but it is unclear what charges they were. Tate relocated to Romania in 2017.

Since moving to Romania, Tate has been arrested twice by the police. He was arrested the first time when the U.S. Embassy tipped them off that an American woman was being held against her will by the Tate brothers. When the police raided Andrew Tate’s home, they found another woman from Romania who also said she was being held against her will. Although the two brothers were released, this resulted in the police opening an investigation that expanded to include suspicion of human trafficking and rape.
The second time Andrew Tate was arrested was in late December 2022 following a lengthy investigation by Romanian police. The authorities claimed that six people were sexually exploited by Tate and his accomplices. They also released a statement that “an injured person was forced, on two different occasions, by a suspect through the exercise of physical violence and psychological pressure to have sexual relations.” They did not say to whom they were accused of the crime. Andrew and Tristan Tate’s webcam business was a key element of these charges, according to the police.
Romanian authorities accuse Tate and his associates of recruiting the women and housing them in Romania, where they were forced to perform as webcam models “by exercising acts of physical violence and mental coercion (through intimidation, constant surveillance, control and invoking alleged debts).”
They were also accused of forming an organized crime group. Tate, through his lawyer, has denied the claims, and the four have contested their detention.
