Prevented from filming his Asterix and Obelix The Middle Empire because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Guillaume Canet used his free time to write and direct a more confidential film entitled Him .
In an Instagram post published on December 23, 2020, the filmmaker explains: “During the first confinement, in May 2020, stopped by the stopping of the preparation of Asterix … I started to write a few pages. 3 first letters were “HIM”, the title of the screenplay which will see the light of day after a few weeks … Written in one go … In September I was shooting this story in 4 weeks with a small team and actors wonderful. ”
This psychological thriller in which a man near his fifties does his introspection is carried by Guillaume Canet, Virginie Efira , Laëtitia Casta , Mathieu Kassovitz, Gilles Cohen , Nathalie Baye and Patrick Chesnais . Produced by Alain Attal , the film is currently being edited and will be available in cinemas soon.
The director was to begin filming Asterix and Obelix L’Empire du milieu – in which he plays the little blond Gaul while his friend Gilles Lellouche plays Obélix – at the beginning of March 2021 between France and China. But last week we learned that the filming in China was compromised for several reasons. It would seem that we must therefore wait before seeing this new adventure on the big screen .
