What is Read Receipts Feature?
The Direct Messages read receipts feature on Twitter lets you know when people have seen your messages. When someone sends you a Direct Message (DM) and if your Show read receipts setting is enabled, then the sender will know when you have seen it.
This setting is enabled in everyone’s account by default but you can turn it off through your Twitter settings. If you disable Show read receipts setting, you will not be able to see read receipts from other people.

Disable Read Receipt On iOS Devices
- Download or update Twitter app from App Store.
- Open the Application on your device.
- Tap on your profile icon.

- Turn off the slider next to the Show read receipts.
Disable Read Receipt On Android Devices

All these DMs will appear as message requests which you can read without sending any read receipts. The sender will not know you have seen their message unless you accept the request.

- Here, select Direct Messages, and turn on the slider next to Allow messages requests from everyone.
On Android Devices
