The new season of Cobra Kai will see Danny LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) return to Okinawa, Japan, and a new report indicates that the story may also see the return of a pair of stars from Karate Kid Part 2.
According to a report, the third season of Cobra Kai will see the return of Tamlyn Tomita and Yuji Okumoto. The report comes after fans thought they had seen a brief appearance by Okumoto in the season 3 teaser.
In Karate Kid Part 2, Okumoto played Chozen Toguchi, the film’s main antagonist who ultimately challenges Daniel to a fight to the death in a misguided attempt to regain his honor where Daniel defeats him by sparing him his life.
In turn, Tomita played Kumkilo, Daniel’s girlfriend, whom Chozen threatens to kill for Daniel to fight him, although in The Karate Kid Part 3 it is revealed that she joined a ballet company in Tokyo.
It’s not exactly clear what impact Okumoto and Tomita’s appearances might have in season 3, though Macchio has previously offered a hint as to what to expect from season 3 in general. During an episode of TBS’s Conan, Macchio talked about Danny’s trip to Japan and discovered secrets about his mentor, Mr. Miyagi.
Likewise, co-star Macchio, Zabka also mocked some surprises for the third season of the program in an earlier interview.
Cobra Kai seasons one and two are now streaming on Netflix. On the other hand, the third season of Cobra Kai will debut in January 2021.
