Sad news for the world of professional wrestling. Former WWF, WCW, and Mid-Soth Wrestling wrestler, The Natural Butch Reed, has passed away at the age of 66 due to heart complications.
Reed’s environment has announced his death through a publication on the fighter’s official Instagram account. It should be noted that earlier this week, Reed had been dealing with health issues after suffering two heart attacks this year.
Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Reed came to wrestling after having a football career with the Kansas City Chiefs. Reed quickly demonstrated his potential in the Mid-South Wrestling promotion, where he faced wrestlers such as Ric Flair, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Jim Neidhart, among others.
WWE has also issued a statement recalling Reed’s career in the company, highlighting his fights at WrestleMania III and VI, as well as his participation in the first Survivor Series and Royal Rumble, among other achievements. He was also a tag team champion in WCW with Ron Simmons and directed by Woman, forming Doom.
