Britannia” is a historical adventure fantasy-drama series set in A. D. 43. It is created by Jez Butterworth and Tom Butterworth. Essentially, this series is the first co-production between Sky and Amazon Prime Video.

The series first aired on Sky Atlantic in U. K. on January 18, 2018. Likewise, on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S. on January 26, 2018. The first season aired on August 2, 2018, on Epix.

Britannia Season 3 Plot Summary

The show acquaints us about the invasion of Britain by the Romans. The Romans are led by Aulus Plautius who is determined to succeed and conquer the mythical land on the end of the Roman Empire. While young Cait of the Cantii tribe loses her family in the ensuing invasion.

She finds an unlikely protector in Divis. He is a former druid and a madman sent to exile by Veran, the leader of Druids. In the meantime, Kerra, daughter of the Cantii King, must find a way to protect her people. From the Romans and the Regni, who await the opportunity to defeat their long-time enemies.

‘Britannia’ received generally positive reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has an approval rating of 71% with an average rating of 6.57/10. Similarly, on Metacritic, it has an average score of 64/100, based on five reviews.

Britannia season 3 Release Date

Good news that it has been renewed for a third season. In September,2020, Sky announced that filming is underway, indicating the series’ return on screen next year in 2021.

Season 3 of this series will witness the introduction of a new central character. And, it will be played by Sophie Okonedo. Seems like the drama is going to be spellbinding!
