The first season of Bridgerton is adapted from Julia Quinn’s novel The Duke and I (2000) and follows the courtship between Daphne and Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings.
In the original novel of the series, Daphne is 21 years old, while the Duke is a few years older than her and attended college with Anthony Bridgerton.
Despite her age, Daphne and her companions are depicted as innocent in the ways of the world when it comes to sex.
Whereas, compared to her on-screen character, the British actress who brings the character to life, Phoebe Dynevor, is 25 years old and was born on April 17, 1995.
Before landing the role in Bridgerton, Dynevor appeared in Waterloo Road, Prisoners Wives, and The Village. Netflix is expected to announce a second season of the show very soon.
