Ryan Kiera Armstrong posted on Instagram that American Horror Story, Double Feature Episode 1 will be called “Cape Fear.” Armstrong shared two photos from the show alongside this announcement. One shows a mysterious person walking down a street in a seaside community at night. The other photo shows two gray hands reaching out from the water. The title of this episode immediately refers back to the 1962 iconic film. Martin Scorsese remade Cape Fear again in 1991. Jessica Lange, American Horror Story star, was the main character in the remake. While it is not known what connection the film and series have, it seems obvious that the episode title is the same as Lange’s film. Murphy may be hinting at the actress’s return.

Lange appeared last in 2018 American Horror Story: Apocalypse But only for two episodes. Before that, she was last seen in a prominent role in season 4’s anthology series. Freak Show.
