Personal details and Early Life
Yuvraj Singh’s wife, Hazel Keech, also known by her married name Gurbasant Kaur, was born on 28th
February 1987, she is a British−Mauritian film actress and model. She was born in Essex county, in
the South-East of England, to a British father and an Indo-Mauritian Hindu mother of Bihari ancestry.
Hazel shared her childhood with her sister who is a football player. Being brought up by a Hindu
mother and a Hindu maternal grandmother at home, she eventually grew loving and respectful
towards the Indian culture. She finished her schooling at Beal High School in Redbridge, London,
where she performed in stage shows and enrolled herself in dancing classes, learning various forms
of Indian classical, British dance, and western contemporary.
Career
Keech became involved in television, film, and stage from her days in England itself. She danced in
Agatha Christie’s ‘Marple’, which is a British program. ‘Call The Shots’, a BBC documentary, showed
her work in Hindi films. Hazel joined the dancing team of the Bollywood musical ‘Bombay Dreams’
for their London promotional tour in 2002 after grueling auditions. She also sang in the choir of the
West End musical ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ the following year. She was also
selected to be an extra in several of the Harry Potter films.
In 2005, while on a vacation in Mumbai, she received a few work offers which persuaded her to stay
and go ahead with a career in modeling and acting in India. She then appeared in various music
videos as well as many TV advertisements including Vivel by ITC, Suzuki, and Sprite. Hazel made her
debut in films after she appeared in the 2007 Tamil film Billa. In 2011, she played a supporting role in
the Bollywood film Bodyguard alongside star names such as Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Her
claim to fame also includes her appearance in the popular Indian TV show Bigg Boss 7 in September
2013 but a week later she was eliminated, the first contestant to exit the house.

Yuvraj Singh and Hazel Keech made their first high-profile appearance at Harbhajan Singh’s wedding
with actress Geeta Basra on 29th October 2015. Soon after that, on 12 November 2015, news broke
out of the pair getting engaged in Bali. Yuvraj and Hazel tied the knot on 30 November 2016, after
which Hazel adopted the name “Gurbasant Kaur”, which was given to her by Sant Balvinder Singh
during the wedding ceremony.
