Will There Be Anne With An E Season 4?

Much to the surprise of critics and fans, Netflix and CBC announced the show’s cancellation on the afternoon (Nov 24, 2019) following the season three finale aired in Canada. This comes as a shocker for fans as CBC earlier expressed that Canadians will continue to fall in love with this gorgeous and heartwarming series for seasons to come. The crude reason for cancellation is the bargain between CBC and Netflix dropped through and their partnership dissolved.

Following the cancellation, the hurt fans began offline and online campaigns to save the series. A Twitter campaign with the hashtag #renewannewithane was launched. Aside from the Twitter effort, fans raised voices through a petition on change.org to reverse the decision of cancellation or the series to be chosen by another streamer. Approximately 2 million people signed this petition. Fans are also crowdfunded to erect billboards in Toronto and New York City. Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds and English singer Sam Smith also tweeted.

Despite all the efforts, Anne with an E remains a 3 season series. The lovers are still putting in a great deal of effort to reverse the show cancellation. But, Netflix and CBC appear to have made their thoughts. It would be interesting to see if some other studio or streamer picks the series for the upcoming season.
