Netflix users will need to wait somewhat longer for the next season of Riverdale to arrive as Riverdale season 5 is not coming to Netflix in May 2021.
Together with May on the horizon, Netflix introduced the complete collection of shows and movies set to drop across the month of May. As always, the list of new releases featured a varied group of names including both Netflix Originals and fan-favorites that flow on the ceremony.
While there are a whole lot to look forward to during the month of May, one title which won’t be releasing next month on Netflix is the fifth season of Riverdale.
The information not too surprising given season 5 is now still underway on The CW and we traditionally need to wait for eight days after the finale has aired before the newest craze drops on Netflix. That said, it will feel odd not to be getting the newest season of Riverdale around Netflix throughout the month since May has traditionally been once the newest season has arrived. So if season 5 is not coming in May, when precisely might the newest season of Riverdale arrive?
When Is Riverdale Season 5 Coming To Netflix?
In a normal year, Riverdale will complete its season during the month of May together with the season then dropping on Netflix only days after the finale has aired. But this year, The CW has decided to approach its program in a sudden new manner which will shake the release of season 5 on Netflix as a result.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The CW was forced to delay its fall line-up by a couple of months with the hottest seasons of Riverdale, The Flash, All American and much more being postponed until early 2021.
While many supposed The CW would simply consider rolling out shortened seasons in an attempt to receive its program back on track, the network has instead been working on a unique schedule that will see many shows bleed into the summer months. This will include Riverdale season 5, which returns from an extended hiatus on July 7.
Should season 5 include the conventional 22 episodes that constitute the ordinary CW show’s air and season uninterrupted upon its return in July, we could be taking a look at a September 22 finale date to the series. If this is indeed true, that would mean Riverdale season 5 would hypothetically drop on Netflix on September 30, 2021.
We are going to have to wait to see when The CW ends up scheduling the finale as that’ll give us a clearer picture of if Riverdale season 5 will eventually fall on Netflix.
