
The Goldbergs has Formally been Revived for a ninth season at ABC. This’80s comedy predicated on the creator, Adam F. Goldberg’s family history has become a much-beloved series by both fans and critics alike. The show stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, Sean Giambrone, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia, Sam Lerner, and Jeff Garlin and covers the zany adventures of a dysfunctional, but lovable, family.
The Goldbergs has been on the air for nearly eight decades, and now it looks like the series won’t be ending anytime soon. That the renowned comedy series has been revived for a ninth season. This comes following the unfortunate passing of George Segal, who had been a series regular on the series since the start. The Oscar-nominated celebrity suffered complications from bypass surgery and died at age 87 in March of this year. He played Beverly’s (McLendon-Covey) father, Albert”Pops” Solomon.
The Goldbergs star, McLendon-Covey, stated previously that the sitcom has no plans to ever recast the personality of Pops. ABC paid a touching tribute to the actor by playing a 45-second clip in remembrance of this actor following the news of his passing. As of now, it’s unclear about how the showrunners will write in Pops’s departure in the upcoming season.
The Goldbergs has been among ABC’s top-rated comedies for many decades now, therefore this renewal should not come as a complete surprise. This news comes at the same time ABC just renewed several other shows including Black-ish, The Conners, and The Rookie. Telephone Your Mother was canceled, but after only a single season. The simple fact that The Goldbergs was able to air for nearly nine seasons now, speaks to its high-quality composing and unforgettable personalities.
