During the NXT broadcast via the USA Network, MSK was attacked by Grizzled Young Veterans. Minutes later, WWE confirmed that Wes Lee had injured his arm, and the title match for the NXT Tag Team Championships that would take place next week was put in doubt.
Following the broadcast of a video about Wes Lee and Nash Carter’s careers, MSK was about to be interviewed to discuss next week’s match against Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch for the NXT Tag Team Championships. However, James Drake and Zack Gibson attacked him from behind. Lee got the worst of it when they put his arm on a chair and got stomped on it. Before Grizzled Young Veterans battled Killian Dain and Drake Maverick, it was announced that James Drake and Zack Gibson will have to pay a fine for causing Lee’s injury.

At NXT TakeOver Vengeance Day MSK (Wes Lee and Nash Carter) won the 2021 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic after defeating Grizzled Young Veterans in the grand final. Thanks to this victory, the team of Wes Lee and Nash Carter will have the opportunity to challenge Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch for the NXT Tag Team Championships.
