- Bruce Prichard assured that he and Vince McMahon were sure that The Undertaker would not go to WCW during Monday Night Wars
Before joining WWE, The Undertaker worked at WCW, where he was not used for anything. On a recent episode of his Something to Wrestle podcast, Bruce Prichard revealed that he and Vince McMahon were sure The Deadman would not have left for WCW during the height of Monday Night Wars.
During the 1990s, WWE’s financial situation was not at its best and many of its superstars left for WCW as they were offered a lot of money. However, they never managed to tempt The Undertaker.
Bruce Prichard stated that WCW would not know what to do with The Phenom. He added that without his gimmick from The Undertaker, Mark Calaway would have returned to his Mean Mark character, which would not have been the best thing for his career.
“I was confident that Undertaker would fight for life for WWE. I think Vince was so sure the Undertaker was a WWE Superstar for life. It was just the opportune moment and I don’t know if WCW would know what the hell to do with it. I really think his character was so shocking that you wanted to keep that aura, that mystery, make sure that’s what the audience wanted, “stated Bruce Prichard.
