During the 205 Live broadcasts via WWE Network, new qualifiers have been announced in the men’s and women’s versions of the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
In the main event of the day, Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher defeated Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari as part of the last meeting of the first round. Ashante Adonis & Desmond Troy’s replacements outnumbered the 205 Live originals when Ciampa hit the Willows Bell for the win on the score of three. Tommaso and Timothy will face The Undisputed Era in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Indi Hartwell and Candice LeRae advance in the women’s Dusty Classic
The show dedicated to the cruiserweight division celebrated its first women’s showdown when The Way defeated debutants, Cora Jade and Gigi Dolin. The second crossing of the Dusty Rhodes Women’s Tag Team Classic ended when Indi Hartwell interfered in favor of her teammate Candice LeRae to serve her the count of three over Cora. The two women of the Gargano family will face off against Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon winners against Marina Shafir and Zoey Stark in the semi-final of the competition.
Both tournaments will continue next Wednesday, January 27 on NXT. The quarterfinals in the men’s tournament will begin with MSK against Killian Dain and Drake Maverick, and Grizzled Young Veterans against Leon Ruff & Kushida. On the women’s side, Dakota Kai and Raquel González will face off against Aliyah & Jessi Kamea.
