
Fans of the American fantasy series ‘The Witcher’ are over joyed as Netflix has announced a second season for the show. This show is based on the book series of the same name by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski and has garnered amazing reviews by the critics and the audience. The fantasy drama has been rated 67% on the Rotten Tomatoes and 8.2 of IMDB’s website. One fun fact about the show is that its Season 2 was announced even before the release of Season 1 on 20th December, 2019. This shows that the makers were pretty confident on the gripping effect of the series.

The Witcher Season 2: Plot
The story revolves around Geralt of Rivia who is a crotchety monster hunter for hire at a medieval place called ‘the continent’. He struggles to find his foot in the world as people turn out to be more evil and dangerous than the monsters he kills. The world around him is filled with corrupt kings, queens and mages who exploit the majority of poverty stricken population where bigotry and violence is rampant. The only well payed jobs people can acquire are the ones which involve darkest of human emotions and desires. Princess Cirilla or Ciri , is the princess of Cintra ruled by her warrior grandmother named Calanthe. She is destined to intertwine with Geralta and explore her special gift. Also, an ambitious mage, Yennefer of Vengerberg who’s destiny unites her with Ciri and Geralt, together they have greater quests to complete. The Kingdom of Cintra is under threats of invasion by the Nilfgaardian Empire, warrior Queen Calanthe along with her subjects are exposed to great dangers. It is up to Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri and their companions to battle with the brooding evil.
In the first season’s climax Yennefer along with her fellow mages are successful in halting the capture of the Northern Kingdoms by Nilfgaardians which was filled with violence and sorcery. Moreover, romance blooms between Geralt and Ciri. The second season will be picking up from this ending and focus more on the relationship Geralt shares with Ciri.
The Witcher Season 2: Release Date
Makers of the show had announced that the release date will be around the end of 2021. With regards to the coronavirus pandemic there might be certain fluctuations in the production that may affect the premiere dates of season 2.
