Fans will be pleased to learn that some Netflix original series and movies are getting sequels, as Netflix has invested billions in its original content. The Netflix network is known for canceling some of our favorite shows due to low ratings, but in this list, we’ll look at some of the most anticipated sequels that will return to screens soon.
The Old Guard Chapter Two: Force Multiplied
Although Netflix has not yet announced an official release date, The Old Guard 2 has begun filming. In August 2021, news broke that the sequel was on its way and would continue the story of Andy (Charlize Theron) and her squad of immortal soldiers. Fans were overjoyed with the announcement since the first film ended on a massive cliffhanger involving someone from Andy’s past. As well as Theron reprising her role, we can expect to see KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Luca Marinell. It will likely arrive in mid-2023, but no release date has been announced.
Army of the Dead 2
In 2021, Army of the Dead was one of the most anticipated movies and was watched by millions worldwide. As a result of the film’s success, Zack Snyder will return to work on its sequel, titled Planet of the Dead. Because few characters survived the first film, the list of possible returning actors is limited. We hope to see Omari Hardwick and Ella Purnell return, but no names have surfaced. Zack Snyder’s busy schedule has no release date for this zombie horror movie, but he will begin production once he has finished Rebel Moon.
Spenser Confidential 2
A sequel to Spenser Confidential looks pretty likely, especially considering the success of the original and the cliffhanger ending. Spenser Confidential 2 is the most searched movie on the internet aside from the first movie. In the sequel to the film, all remaining cases will conclude, and many questions will have their answers, giving this action-packed film a satisfying ending.
Spenser novels are by Robert B. Parker, who wrote 48 books based on the character, meaning that Netflix can adapt many stories for the screen.
Knives Out 2
An auction in March 2021 ensured Rian Johnson’s mystery film franchise would be an exclusive Netflix series. The crime comedy movie was a hit and saw Daniel Craig as a private detective Benoit Blanc. Daniel Craig will share the screen with Chris Evans and Ana De Armas as the only actor to reprise his role. Soon, Netflix will announce a release date for Knives Out 2, which has been in post-production since September 2021. We may not see Daniel Craig order a dirty martini in a casino like James Bond, but it’s great to see him back on our screens. It will be hard to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond, but we’re looking forward to finding out who will be replacing him! If you want to channel your inner James Bond, why not experience the casino scene online with some Platin Casino slots?
Extraction 2
Netflix first released the thriller, Extraction in 2020, and a sequel is in the works. The extraction two plot will see Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) have to rescue a family from the clutches of a gangster who has enslaved them. He must enter the world’s deadliest prison to do so. Hemsworth hinted that production ended in March, and a teaser trailer has already appeared. We can expect a full trailer soon and hopefully see the movie on our screens in late 2022.
Code 8: Part 2
When Code 8 hit theatres, it received some positive reviews from critics and fans, but it wasn’t until Netflix released the movie in April 2020 that it gained traction. Due to the movie’s success on Netflix, a sequel is officially in the works. A young girl will be the focus of the sequel, seeking justice for her brother, one of the 4% of humans with extraordinary abilities killed by the corrupt police. The original’s creators, Stephen and Robbie Amell, are set to appear in the sequel, which will debut in late 2022.
365 Days Part 3
With a confirmed August 2022 release date, we don’t have to wait too long for the third installment of Laura and Massimo’s love story. The release of 365 Days Part 3 is a welcomed shock to fans just recovering from the second installment cliffhanger that left Laura’s life in the balance. In the third movie, we will find out if she will survive, and if she does, will she forgive Massimo?
Part three will officially be released on 19th August 2022, so mark that date on your calendar!
Beverly Hills Cop 4
Twenty years have passed since the last Beverly Hills Cop movie, and for fans, the wait is finally over as production on Beverly Hills Cop 4 has begun. Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy), a cheeky Detroit policeman, investigates crimes in Beverly Hills, California, as part of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise. Foley’s unconventional methods always aid in solving the case. We can likely expect the new movie to follow the same formula, despite the lack of plot details. However, there is still no word on the release date.
Alice in Borderland Season 2
In this action drama adapted from Haro Aso’s manga, a group of friends travels into a parallel dimension called the Borderlands. Due to the first season’s cliffhanger ending, many people are eager to hear more about the second season. While little information is available about Alice In Borderland’s second season, it is likely to pick up where the first ended. The second part of the series went into production shortly after the first season aired and will arrive on our screen in December 2022.
The Witcher: Blood Origin
Not a sequel to the original TV show but rather a mini-series set in an elven world 1,200 years before the show, the series will center around the origins of the first ever Witcher. The story is an untold story of the Witchers that everyone hoped would come out. The Witcher: Blood Origin cast, as of now, there are 14 characters on the show, with Michelle Yeoh, Sophia Brown, and Laurence O’Fuarain playing the show’s lead. The Witcher: Blood Origin has no release date, but it should arrive in 2022.
Conclusion
As you can see, some of our favorite shows will return to our screens sooner than we anticipated. We can expect to see many more besides the ones on our list. 2022 and 2023 are looking like good years for Netflix!
