We have sad news for the audiences of ‘The Last Kingdom‘. The show’s season 5 would not come in May 2021. Netflix declared the renewal of the show on July 7, 2020.
The Last Kingdom is a British historical fiction television show which premiered on BBC in 2015 and on Netflix in 2018. It is based on The Saxon Stories by writer Bernard Cornwell.
The loyal fans of the series may be having a lot of questions for season 5 like why is it getting delayed and when can they expect it to come. We’ll be answering such questions in our article.
There might be also questions regarding what will probably be Uhtred’s next move. Most questions are left unanswered that can be removed only when season 5 comes out. We’re also eager to see Aelswith continuing her path of redemption. Are not we?
But our questions are not expected to have cleared soon as Netflix does not have ‘The Last Kingdom’ as among its May 2021 release. There is a gap of at least between 12 to 14 months between the renewal of any string on Netflix but this schedule is getting bothered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This also suggests that the shows will come back a bit later than normal. Thus, we’ll have to wait a bit more for our favorite time drama to reunite.
Release Date
The Last Kingdom Season 5 is currently under filming. Following this the post-production also takes time. But the positive thing here is that the post-production of this series will not require a long time since it does not demand a great deal of VFX work unlike shows like Shadow and Bone.
However, filming has been done with each proper precaution so it’s expected that filming alone could take time more than it’s usual. The creation is expected to wrap up in the summer of 2021. Following the wrap-up of creation, more details can be expected to emerge out about its release date. So, the wait will be well worth the while. The 5th season is very likely to be the final installment in the show. There’ll not be any more seasons. Till now, no motive was given as to why the show is coming to a conclusion.
Netflix has not yet announced the date for the release of The Last Kingdom Season 5. Between each single of The Last Kingdom, there has been a difference of one and a half a year. In accordance with this, the next season can be expected by the end of 2021.
