The series originally followed the story of Eleanor who after her death found herself in The Good Place which was a heaven-like utopia. The utopia was designed and run by Michael (Ted Danson). Eleanor got the place in the utopia because of her rewarding life which wasn’t exactly the truth.

She encountered Chidi (William Jackson Harper), Tahani (Jameela Jamil), and Jason (Manny Jacinto). However, she kept her unworthiness of getting a heaven-like afterlife a secret. Gradually it was revealed that the foursome was actually in The Bad Life and was to be tortured by Michael.

Why won’t there be any Season 5?

The Good Place had steady ratings on NBC. So, many viewers are curious regarding the reason for the series being discontinued.

It has been revealed that it was a purely creative decision. Schur shared that they had planned the ending since Season 2 and everything was mapped out accordingly. So, they felt the series had reached its lifespan as they had already told the story which the writers wanted to tell. Schur added,

“At times over the past few years we’ve been tempted to go beyond four seasons, but mostly because making the show is a rare, creatively fulfilling joy, and at the end of the day, we don’t want to tread water just because the water is so warm and pleasant”

The show was nominated for 12 Emmys in its four years on Tv. But It was up against another big sitcom, Schitt’s Creek which swept away all the categories.
