The Flight Attendant has been conceived as a miniseries, but that does not mean that it cannot continue in the future. The suspense series based on Chris Bohjalian’s novel of the same name is garnering rave reviews and it wouldn’t be surprising if HBO Max wanted to continue it beyond the first season. For now, all team members seem to agree.
In a recent interview on Watch What Happens Live, Kaley Cuoco – the lead actress and producer of the project – has revealed that she would not mind developing the story.
Cuoco’s words fit with what was established by the ‘showrunner’ Steve Yockey, who was already anticipated that the second season was something completely feasible. “It’s a miniseries and we have plans in the oven. We have a great production team and we are a wonderful group of storytellers. I think we have everything in place for the series to continue after its initial mystery,” Yockey declared.
The audience data seems to accompany the team’s plans, but, should HBO decide to cancel the fiction, viewers would be left with a satisfactory ending. Zosia Mamet, who in the series plays Cassie’s (Cuoco) best friend and lawyer, told TVLine that fans will be “happy”, but hopes they want “more.
So if you’ve been hooked on Cassie’s gaffes, you can go on thinking that The Flight Attendant will have a second season – as long as the studio is ready. If, on the other hand, you don’t know what the series is about, you have to know that it focuses on a stewardess who, after a crazy night, wakes up next to a man who has been murdered. She does not remember anything of what happened, but must fight for her innocence.
