Now you can take your first look at The Beatles: Get Back , the documentary about the famous music band directed by Peter Jackson . The Lord of the Rings director’s work will hit theaters in 2021 , but before that happens, Disney + and The Beatles’ official Twitter account have shared five minutes of the film. The Beatles: Get Back was created from 56 hours of unreleased material that director Michael Lindsay-Hogg recorded in 1969 and 150 hours of audio. The documentary shows how John Lennon , Paul McCartney , George Harrison and Ringo Starr prepared for their first concert in two years after creating 14 new songs. The piece also shows the band’s last performance on the roof of the Apple Corps offices in London . The group definitively separated in 1970.
“We wanted to give Beatles fans around the world a Christmas present, so we’ve put together these five minutes from our movie The Beatles: Get Back . Hopefully, it will put a smile on your face in these rather dark times that we find ourselves in right now, ”says Jackson in the preview of the documentary.
