Sweet Magnolias Season 2

The very “sweet” friendship story between three childhood besties has won people’s hearts this year. Sweet Magnolias is based on 11 novels of American author Sherly Woods and premiered on 19th May 2020 on Netflix.

The light-hearted romantic show has received a lot of love from its viewers and a decent IMDB rating of 7.4/10 from the critics.

To the happiness of the fans, the show makers have announced a season 2 for the same in July 2020 which was pretty much foreseen as season 1 ended with a dramatic cliffhanger. Netflix announced the season 2 renewal via its Twitter account.

The show features JoAnna Garcia Swisher as Maddie Townsend, Brooke Elliott as Dana Sue Sullivan, and Heather Headley as Helen Decatur in the central characters of the show. Other main characters include:

Sweet Magnolias plot so far…

The story revolves around childhood best friends Dana, Maddie, and Helen and explores their friendship ties and different life challenges they share with each other and overcome. From hedging divorce, taking care of children, giving relationships another shot, embracing motherhood to taking care of their careers, and heading businesses these women embrace life as it is and pour their hearts out to each other.

Sweet Magnolias Season 2

Season one ends with a cliffhanger involving Kyle’s car crash where he lies unconscious and the driver of the other car has not been revealed yet. Season 2 will definitely pick from here as to what happens to Kyle and who crashed into him.

However, the author of the novel Sweet Magnolias stated on Twitter that season 1 is based a lot on the first three out of the eleven novels, therefore, there is a lot of material to explore for the makers of the show.

Sweet Magnolias Season 2 the release date

Sherly Woods via her official Twitter handle confirmed that filming for season 2 will begin in Georgia in 2021. Apart from this info there is now news yet about the official release date of the show.
