As CW’s Supergirl draws to a close, Katie McGrath, who portrays Lena Luthor, Shows her hopes for Lena’s destiny. Leading life with a name tied to Lex Luthor (depicted by Jon Cryer), Lena is no stranger to be chased, which has often led her to doubt herself and questioning whether she could truly be great. So it is no surprise that McGrath’s desire for Lena is not necessarily one such as fame and riches.
Supergirl has recently entered its sixth and final season, since the Super Friends continue their struggle with Lex’s decision to rule the world along with other threatening forces. McGrath stars alongside Melissa Benoist in the titular role, David Harewood, Chyler Leigh, Jesse Rath, Nicole Maines and Azie Tesfai. Fans of the series have lots of desires for Lena’s fate, largely revolving around a romance between our girl of steel, Kara. While McGrath could not confirm any specific plot points, her hopes to get Lena is extremely straightforward.
McGrath stated that, since the curtain drops, she needs Lena to finally be content in herself and find some self-love. Lena has fought against her dark side before and endured the emotional repercussions, but McGrath believes it’s time for Lena to finally find some peace of mind and forgive her past errors. McGrath said:
I actually would like to see Lena encounter full acceptance of that she is, that she is fully accepted who she knows, what she’s done, and that she’s now… She is not hung up about the bad elements of her, and she’s fully accepted the girl that she is, warts and all, along with she thinks that she’s a fantastic man. For me, that would be such a lovely wrap-up for Lena because she fought so much with who she is. To finally take a deep breath and go,’ I am enough, Lena is sufficient,’ and be happy for this.
McGrath goes on to express her delight concerning the series being completed since the showrunners pictured it instead of meeting with the fate of some different shows and being cancelled at an unfinished point. And while she does not affirm if her fantasies for Lena will attest, she’s certainly on all parties being satisfied with the certain finale. McGrath explained further:
So as soon as the show does end, we have the privilege of being able to tell the end. Our showrunners are amazing, and our writers are brilliant, and the idea that they’ve come up with, you’ll get an ending.
Although all of the Supergirl characters have confronted their allies, it is arguable that Lena’s have been the most hungry as she was filmed from evil and has to continuously prove her virtue to those who can’t accept it, such as himself. So it’s safe to say that, while lovers may be holding high expectations for Lena’s future, all will be pleased should Lena is allowed the gift of self-acceptance.
