- Steve Austin expresses his joy at seeing The Undertaker out of character after his recent retirement from Lucha Libre
The Undertaker officially retired from in-ring competition last year at Survivor Series after a career spanning three decades. During his time as an active competitor, he was very insistent on maintaining his aura and very rarely let people see the man behind the character.
“Stone Cold” Steve Austin was recently interviewed at Busted Open, where he talked about how happy he is that one of his best friends in Lucha Libre, The Undertaker, can finally be himself.
“Finally, The Undertaker can say after 30 years that he is a human being,” Austin stated. “I understand everything about the kayfabe as it is part of the business, but when it comes time to retire and be yourself, it is magical. Now we can get to know Mark Calaway more and not always connect him with The Undertaker.”
Steve Austin said,
“In the future, he may appear on RAW or wherever, but now is the time to live his life as he has always been dedicating all his time to wrestling. The Undertaker has already given us many moments as a superstar in WWE, now let him live happily his life, “
