Stargirl is an American series based on DC superhero Courtney Whitmore. The creator of the series, Geoff Johns also created the character for DC Comics along with Lee Moder. The season premiered on 18 May 2020 on DC Universe and subsequently on The CW Network. Season one was released after a two-year prep but it was worth it. Fans appreciated season one and could not wait for more. Critics called it “generally favorable” and it received an average rating of 7.61/10 on Rotten Tomatoes. Will There Be A Stargirl Season 2?
Stargirl was quite an unexpected series from DC Universe. However noting its positive response, Stargirl has been renewed for Season Two. For season one, the series aired on DC Universe as well as on The CW Network for the first time. The second season will have a slightly different agenda. Stargirl Season two will air exclusively on The CW Network on your TVs.
Release Date
The pandemic pushed back the schedule of The CW Network. Therefore the shooting for Stargirl Season 2 started in October 2020. When CW announced its January schedule it lacked Stargirl Season two. This means that season two might release around the same date as season one. There are more chances of it being a part of the spring/summer schedule. The most likely release date will be summer 2021. We are still waiting to hear from the makers about a release date.
Plot
The story starts a decade after the demolition of JSA (Justice Society of America). Courntney Whitmore, a teenager, comes across the Cosmic Staff of Starman. Taking inspiration from her stepfather, who used to be Starman’s comrade, becomes Stargirl. She establishes the Justice Society of America back with a new generation of superheroes. Courtney takes help from her classmates to fight against the ISA (Injustice Society of America).
Season one ended with a cliffhanger. Although the JSA won against ISA and killed a few too many villains, the show teased about new villains coming up. The biggest shock of all was that there might be the probability of Starman being alive.
JSA had managed to stop ISA from controlling people’s minds without any losses on their side. However, the result of this fight will show in Stargirl Season two. In season one we saw how Yolanda had sworn to never kill anyone. Despite this, she ended up killing Brainwave when he manipulated her into doing so. Season two will show her struggle to come out of this shock of going back on her words. On Stargirl’s DC Fan Dome, creator Johns confirmed that Solomon Grundy who flees ISA will be back. Also, the arrival of Eclipso was teased in season one.
Some new villans are coming back in the picture. The arrival of Starman could mean anything. There are a lot of questions that Stargirl Season 2 has two uncover.
Cast
Most of the cast on JSA’s side will be coming back as none of them died. Brec Bassinger as Courtney Whitmore aka Stargirl, Yvette Monreal as Yolanda Montez aka Wildcat II, Anjelika Washington as Beth Chapel aka Doctor Mid-Nite II, Trae Romano as Mike Dugan, Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman, Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore, Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan/ S.T.R.I.P.E. As well as Joel McHale as Starman will be seen. On the villan side, Nick Tarabay will be back as Eclipso and Jonathan Cake as The Shade. Ysa Penarejo will play a new unknown character.
Although Cameron played by Hunter Sansone, who has a love interest for Stargirl, did not feature for the majority of season one. The death of his parents is going to change something in him. We are going to see a dark side of Cameron in Season 2.
