Star Trek: Picard Season 2 will feature the most iconic villain of all time. He not only promised to be back in the next series but also said he would return to the franchise. Paramount+ was able to expand Star Trek by bringing Picard aboard as the new generation show.

Picard sets out on a personal mission to assist his friend Soji’s daughter, Soji, in her search for a synthetic lifeform. They found a planet that was home to such lifeforms, even though Mars had banned them. Picard’s situation quickly becomes more complicated. Picard is haunted by the idea of Romulans being destroyed. Picard persevered despite numerous setbacks, threats, and challenges. Let’s watch Picard return for season 2, and see how he handles the new challenges.

STAR TREK: PICARD SEASON 2: BELOVED ANTAGONIST WILL RETURN

John de Lancie will reprise his role as Q in the next six episodes of Star Trek: Picard. It is not clear if he will be appearing in scenes during the third season, or if he will appear in the whole second season. Brent Spiner will be back as Data in an alternate timeline, while Dr. Altan Inigo soong will also return. They will be joined by Whoopi Goldberg and Guinan.

Sir Patrick Stewart will be back as Jean-Luc Picard, with Alison Pill playing Agnes Juris. Isa Briones will reprise her role as Soji Asha, Evan Evagora and Michelle Hurd will return as Raffi Music. Santiago Cabrera will be joining them as Cristobal “Chris” Rios, Orla Brady, Laris, and Jeri Ryan, Seven of Nine. Jonathan Frakes will not return to Riker, but he has directed episodes with Q and Data.

STAR TREK: PICARD SEASON 2: PRODUCTION WILL CONTINUE BACK-TO-BACK

The premiere of the first season was in 2020. The second season was renewed before its debut. Despite Star Trek: Picard’s huge success, it took longer than anticipated to begin work on the next chapter.

We learned this year, that production started in California on February 16, 2021. De Lancie soon confirmed in April that they are currently working on seasons 2 and 3. De Lancie also stated that production has already started on season 3. This implies that they have already completed season 2.

IS STAR TREK: PICARD SEASON 3 RENEWED?

Paramount+ has yet to officially renew Star Trek: Picard Season 3. According to reports, the network granted permission for the crew to start work on the third season before the official renewal. Paramount+’s earnest plans for Star Trek are evident, so it won’t surprise them if they grant permission for the third season. Back-to-back filming seems smart as it allows fans to enjoy the third series as quickly as possible.

STAR TREK: PICARD SEASON 2: TRAILER TEASED NEW CHALLENGES

Paramount+ recently released two trailers for the season. The trailer for the first season was quite short. It did tease Q’s return and his participation in the second run.

Later in June, Picard’s team released another trailer confirming their new mission. Although they haven’t yet revealed any details about the next run, it is clear that Q and Guinan conflict. Seven of Nine will also lose her Borg implants. This is a significant upshot for her character.

STAR TREK: PICARD SEASON 2: RELEASE DATE!

Although filming for Howbeit is still in progress, you don’t need to wait so long. According to reports, Star Trek: Picard Season 2 is expected to air in 2022. The official premiere date is not yet known. The next series will have ten episodes, airing in 2022. This follows a very short gap between seasons 2/3. We can therefore expect Star Trek: Picard Season 3 airing in mid-2022.
