Sing 2 , the sequel to the animated film Sing , has announced its new signings. As Deadline picks up, Halsey , Pharrell Williams , Bono , Bobby Cannavale , Letitia Wright , Eric Andre and Chelsea Peretti have joined the cast of the second installment. It has also been announced that the film plans to hit theaters in the United States on December 22, 2021.
In addition to new voices, Sing 2 recovers in its cast Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon , Reese Witherspoon as Rosita , Scarlett Johansson as Ash , Taron Egerton as Johnny , Tori Kelly as Meena and Nick Kroll as Gunter. Garth Jennings will be back behind the scenes in the sequel and will also be in charge of writing the script.
The synopsis of the second installment anticipates that Buster Moon and his group will try to take their talent outside their local theater. They look forward to performing at The Crystal Tower Theater , the capital’s most prestigious venue for entertainment. But if they want to achieve it, they must first impress and prove their worth on stage to the entertainment mogul Jimmy Crystal , a very powerful man and a great egomaniac. Crystal agrees to let them perform but on one condition: that Buster convinces lonely rock legend Clay Calloway , who finds himself in self-imposed seclusion after the death of his wife, to get back on stage.
Cannavale will play Jimmy Crystal, Bono as Clay Calloway and Williams as the elephant Alfonso . Halsey, meanwhile, will lend her voice to Porsche , Jimmy Crystal’s teenage daughter. Wright plays a feline street dancer who will help the gorilla Johnny regain his confidence. Andre will be a cocky yak and Peretti will be Jimmy Crystal’s haughty canine assistant and talent scout.
