After the premiere of both Shadow and Bone on April 23, 2021, on Netflix, the aficionados are waiting for any updates on Shadow and Bone Season two. The first eight episodes of this young adult fantasy adventure show became highly popular with the Netflix adult show audiences. The show received largely positive reviews from critics and viewers alike.
According to What is on Netflix (WON), Shadow and Bone were renewed for Season 2. The next season will be made by Eric Heisserer. Although Netflix has not formally announced Shadow and Bone Season 2, it looks like the news about Shadow and Bone’s renewal seems true, especially looking at WON’s reputation in breaking renewal news. Before, WON was appropriate when they reported that the renewal of Ozark, Fate, and The Winx Club.
Netflix’s highly anticipated Shadow and Bone are adapted from the Grisha trilogy (starting with Shadow and Bone) and the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo. The writer herself was very impressed with the adaptation of her book.
In an interview with Elle, Leigh Bardugo was asked how she felt when she first heard of Netflix picking her up book to create a series.
“It was so emotional. I mean, I am an easy crier. The cameo was chosen based on if I was going to be in place and what the schedule was. I got so lucky because I got to be from the scene that I remember writing so clearly. I remember sitting there thinking, ‘Okay, what’s the choreography of this? How is Grisha going to enter? Where’s everybody in this room?’ And I wrote those stories at a time in my entire life which was so dim, where I had no idea that I was going to finish one publication, let alone I would write seven books on the planet.”
The story is set in a war-torn world plagued with the Shadow Fold, a swath of permanent darkness separating East from West Ravka, occupied by Exotic winged monsters known as Velcro. Alina Starkov is a teenage orphan who grows up in the Russia-inspired land of Ravka. She finds she is a Grisha, a magic-user, with the legendary capability to make light, which may be the key to placing her country free in the Fold.
Alina is torn out of what she knows to train as part of an elite military of Grisha, serving under General Kirigan (Ben Barnes), the Shadow Summoner. However, as she struggles to hone her power, she finds that enemies and allies can be the same, and nothing in this lavish world is exactly what it seems. There are treacherous forces in play, such as a magnetic crew of criminals known as the Crows, and it will take more than her new abilities to survive it.
If Shadow and Bone Season 2 happens, it will start where Season 1 finished. It’s likely to release any time in 2022. Currently, there’s absolutely no official renewal date to its second season of Shadow and Bone.
