- The Big Dog did not receive a single statuette at the awards ceremony held last Wednesday
- Reigns claimed he doesn’t need a trophy as he is the highest-paid wrestler in WWE
On December 23, WWE held the first Slammy Awards gala in more than five years of his absence from programming. Superstar Roman Reigns was nominated in five categories, including the Superstar of the Year award. However, the surprise was great when the awards ended, and ” The Big Dog” did not take home any statuettes.
In relation to this issue, Roman Reigns gave a brief statement on Twitter in response to a fan’s message. He himself questioned that “The Big Dog” has not obtained a single Slammy among the six nominations it achieved this year. However, Reigns’ response was overwhelming in this regard. “You don’t need a participation award when you’re the highest-paid and most awarded superstar in the business,” clarified the current owner of the Universal Championship.
When you’re are the highest paid/most decorated Superstar in the business. You don’t need participation awards. https://t.co/qy5KNAHxu0

Roman Reigns was a participant in multiple categories this year but was displaced from all of them. Their encounters against Drew McIntyre and Jey Uso lost to Undertaker vs. AJ Styles at WrestleMania. His return to the ring was overshadowed by “The Rated R Superstar” Edge. And The Undertaker’s farewell was considered more impactful than his alliance with Paul Heyman. Ultimately, Reigns was overtaken by Drew McIntyre in the categories of the male fighter of the year and superstar of the year.
Roman Reigns continues as the owner of the Universal Championship. After defeating Jey Uso and taking him as his ally by force, “The Big Dog” came out with his head held high at TLC 2020 against Kevin Owens in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match. Next Friday on SmackDown, Reigns will face Owens again in a Steel Cage Match where he will put his title at stake once more.
