The plot centers around Naofumi Iwatami, an otaku who’s chosen as one of the Cardinal Heroes to get a parallel world and armed forces with the Legendary Shield because of his weapon. He, together with other Cardinal Heroes, is tasked with fighting hordes of monsters called Waves. But, things take a turn for Naofumi if he is falsely accused of sexual assault by his partner and robbed of his belongings. Naofumi spends a lot of the show not only hoping to take out Waves but reconstruct his standing with the public.
The Rising of the Shield Hero stirred controversy with anime lovers as well as reviewers from websites like Anime News Network and CBR because of its questionable use of sexual assault as a plot point. Who’s in the cast for The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2?
The trailer for The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 could have only teased the next experiences for Naofumi and his celebration, but it was forthcoming with information on who the cast will be for Season 2. And so far, it seems like much of the voice cast from Season 1 will soon be returning for this season. The cast will include Kaito Ishikawa as Naofumi, Asami Seto as Raphtalia, Rina Hidaka as Filo, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Ren Amaki, Makoto Takahashi as Motoyasu Kitamura, Yoshitaka Yamaya as Itsuki Kawasumi, and Maaya Uchida as Melty.
The trailer did also affirm a few changes in the production staff on Season 2. For one, Masato Jinbo is replacing Takao Abo as manager for this season. And while Kinema Citrus was the animation studio behind the show on Season 1, they will be booted with South Korean animation studio DR Film for Season two.
