The latest in Netflix’s anime jobs is Record of Ragnarok, a version of the popular Japanese manga by precisely the same name (it’s also known as Shuumatsu No Valkyrie), which tells the story of a deadly battle between men and gods. Following a council of gods decides to wipe out all of humanity, a Valkyrie named Brunhilde argues that people be allowed to show they are worth saving, suggesting a championship between 13 of the most skilled warriors in history and 13 immensely powerful gods over the fate of humankind. To even the odds, the people are allowed the assistance of Valkyries, who can transform themselves to weapons best suited to each of the individual’s strengths. If the humans can win seven of the battles, the gods will not smite them out of existence.
The Record of Ragnarok manga was written by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui and has been illustrated by the mangaka group Ajichika, also has been released in Monthly Comic Zenon since 2017. Since then, it has been compiled into 10 volumes and recently obtained that a spin-off series.
Though Netflix has not yet indicated whether Record of Ragnarok will find a Season 2, it’s possible — and since the manga is continuing, there’s lots of story material left. The streamer also declared earlier this year it intends to release 40 new anime names in 2021, almost double the number of anime jobs it published in 2020, which shows Netflix’s ongoing commitment to developing its library of original anime series and films. Fantastic information for all the Records of Ragnarok lovers, hopefully!
Season 1 of Record of Ragnarok is going to be released internationally on Thursday, June 17. We are going to update this post as we hear more about a potential Season 2.
Record of Ragnarok season 2 release date
A release date for its next season has not yet been announced, but being the pilot period released late Spring this season, it wouldn’t be too bad of a guess to forecast that season 2 would premiere around the same time. (make sure you take this guesstimate using a grain of salt!)
Once we understand more about Record of Ragnarok season 2 like a synopsis, a trailer, and a release date, we will make certain to update you with the latest, but while you wait patiently for a few hopefully good information, feel free to see the first season of the anime show currently streaming just on Netflix.
